Fanø

The island of Fanø, close to the port of Esbjerg, on Denmark's North Sea coast is a spectacular place - an expansive flatscape, buffeted by the wind. On a blustery day, it is ideal for photographing ships. I went there last Saturday to photograph Smyril Line's impressive 'Atlantic ferry' Norröna, which sails to the Faroe Islands and Iceland. Due to a storm, the Norröna was five hours late but, when she did arrive, she was bathed in early evening sunlight.

The Norröna finally appears.

The end of a splendid day.
